38. Question: Describe hydroscopic farming. You should say:

Sample Answer:

Hydroscopic farming is a new agricultural technique that uses water-absorbing polymers to retain water in the soil. This allows farmers to grow crops in areas with low rainfall or in periods of drought.

Hydroscopic polymers are tiny, water-soluble beads that can absorb up to 100 times their weight in water. They are mixed with the soil before planting, and as the soil dries out, the polymers release water to the plants. This helps to keep the plants hydrated and prevents them from wilting.

There are a number of benefits to hydroscopic farming. First, it can help to increase crop yields in areas with low rainfall. Second, it can help to reduce the risk of crop failure during droughts. Third, it can help to conserve water.

However, there are also some challenges to hydroscopic farming. First, the polymers can be expensive. Second, they can be difficult to apply to the soil evenly. Third, they can break down over time, which means that they need to be replaced regularly.

Overall, hydroscopic farming is a promising new agricultural technique that has the potential to increase crop yields and reduce the risk of crop failure in areas with low rainfall. However, more research is needed to determine the long-term effectiveness of this technique.
